Tiffaney Moore Borgelin

Tiffaney Moore Borgelin is a voice coach and certified herbalist who uses a unique combination of voice and natural health training to coach clients from various vocal disciplines. Her clients include singers, actors, poets, storytellers, teachers, radio broadcasters and more.

Tiffaney's voice coaching career began as a choir director in a rapidly growing church. Singing and directing proved to be an artistic and vocally athletic experience which helped to develop her voice and leadership ability.

As a choir director working in a vocally demanding genre of music Tiffaney was also able to work with singers whose voices were powerful, yet prone to many challenges. Some choir members struggled with vocal constriction, breath control and respiratory and immune system issues. Others could not seem to overcome the often paralyzing fear that prevented them from maximizing their vocal potential.

Because the challenges were varied and in some cases interconnected, Tiffaney noted that a holistic approach to voice would be the most strategic way to address these issues. So, she began researching degree programs that would give her the knowledge she needed. When she could not find a course of study that suited her needs, she created her own.

Tiffaney received her Bachelor's in Liberal Arts through the State University of New York-Excelsior  where a unique program allowed her to tailor her undergraduate degree to include theater, music and social science. She went on to complete her  Certificate in Herbal Medicine through the American College of Healthcare Sciences. She concentrated her efforts primarily in respiratory and immune system herbology.

After completing her certification she designed and taught several courses including Basic Herbology, Nutritive Herbology and Alternative Health Modalities for Central Piedmont Community College, one of the largest community college systems in the nation.

Tiffaney’s study in voice and health were further enhanced when she had the rare privilege of completing training sessions under the instruction of renowned voice scientist, Jo Estill. Tiffaney is counted amongst the last students who were fortunate to receive Compulsory Figures for Voice and Voice Craft education from Jo before her retirement.

Because of her unique holistic approach to voice and coaching, Tiffaney was asked by Dr. Julie Fortney, head of the voice department at Mars Hill College, to return to the training session the next summer and present a session on “Herbs for the Voice” to a group of voice professionals and scientists. She also received invitations to share her unique approach to voice and health at schools, colleges, churches and other organizations.

During this same period, Tiffaney was offered a position as music director for WOGR radio. In this role, she screened prospective talent for vocal quality, artistic merit, and content for airplay. She also conducted voice workshops for the staff and on-air talent.

Eventually, Tiffaney opened up The Natural Voice, a vocal arts and wellness studio in the heart of Charlotte's arts district. There she continued to teach and refine her own holistic curriculum designed for singers, actors, poets, radio artists, teachers and anyone whose voice is a valuable part of their profession or craft.

While continuing to coach voice, Tiffaney uses her own gifts as a vocal artist. As a performer, Tiffaney's vision has remained simple. She performs as a creative release and also to provide her clients with the assurance she would never ask of them, what she will not do herself.

Tiffaney’s most recent achievements include being commissioned to write and read the theme poems for the 2010 North Carolina Governor's Conference for Women and the 2011 Pride Magazine awards.  She was also recently honored to be the first artist to win Best Original Short Work  from the Metrolina Theatre Association. She was also received an MTA nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress for another original work she wrote entitled "Back".  She also received her own feature segment, appropriately titled VOICE for justdoit, a themed reading series for artists from all walks of life. She was also honored as an Outstanding Alumni by The American College of Health Sciences for her work as an herbalist applying her discipline to voice.

To date, Tiffaney has presented voice workshops all over the country. Her clients are from various vocal disciplines and she continues to research ways to help them reach their goals. She currently travels to present workshops and classes. She maintains a private studio for her individual client coaching sessions. She also performs and serves as a coach for theater, music and poetry organizations in and around North Carolina.
